How to create LEFT menu, like in new BBM?

Is there any sample how to create left application menu like in new BBM?

 

As I know - there is a right menu, context menu, top menu.... but how to create it at left?

Great... but how to remove text signs from that button? If i set .title to empty, it helps, but there is no names in left menu.
