I applaud focusing your efforts on what excites you and on where your strengths lie. You can indeed develop Qt applications on blackberry (though this is not the right forum for discussion those applications). You give up the consistent look and feel and tight integration with the OS, and you need to take ownership of ensuring rapid visual responsiveness of your UI.
That said, the cascades environment (which is still in Beta) is sufficiently close to Qt that you should find it easy to extend your skills.
The real question is what do you want to develop, for what market, what is the correct technology choice, and is there a technology choice that is both appropriate for the application and appropriate to your skillset?
Let's not open a philosophical debate that has no bearing on the question at hand; I just want to make sure there are no misconceptions affecting your decisions.
