Contract Idea

I have an idea for RIM management which can boost sales dramatically, especially in Canada.

To whom it may concern,

Why do you allow the big cell phone companies to force clients into a 3 year contract when buying your phones? Due to this business practice you are limiting blackerry users to a new phone every 3 years. From what I can see you have a new product come out every year and most phone users would like to upgrade as much as possible.

I for one am not willing to pay full price for a phone when I know I should be getting it for much less, so I will be waiting for my 3 year contract to finish before I upgrade to a 9900.

The phone companies will argue that they're "losing money" on the phones but in reality with a 3 year term they are not only making a killing but also preventing phone manufacturers like RIM and Apple from benefiting wiyh a higher sales volume.

Just my 2 cents - if someone at RIM does have the balls to put this idea into effect you can thank me for your increase in sales with a new 9900 (wink wink nudge nudge)

My Carrier: Vodafone France (SFR)

Re: Contract Idea

in France, most mobile phone operators offer a full BlackBerry Package with a Bold 9900 for the equivalent of 60USD/month, and you are linked to the contract for 24 months (in European laws, the contract cannot be more than 24 months).

and a new operator has just arrived, with a full BlackBerry plan for just the equivalent of 12USD/month, but without any mobile phone given by the operator.

Do the math, and you'll see that buying your own mobile phone full price in a store that is not linked to a mobile phone carrier is cheaper.

I advise you to look for contracts without a mobile phone.
