Hi guys,
Not really sure where this was supposed to go (there's no real general discussion forum), so I have a quick question. I'm aware that one can only use a custom avatar after reaching a certain forum rank (ie. specialist I). What rank is this? How many posts are required? Furthermore, does anyone know what the different tiers are? In other words, I'm wondering how many posts each subsequent rank requires, or if there's some kind of dynamic relativity system for Elite status like Newgrounds uses (the top 10 titles are awarded based on a dynamic algorithm relative to the other users' daily activity/history).
Thanks,
~Dom

Dom, good question.
I think it is currently changing for those in the Developer branch, but in the past, the forum ranking has been an algorithm based on posts, logins, page views, time spent online, etc.
If I recall correctly, the ability to use a custom avatar comes available at the Trusted Contributor rank.
Does that help?

It does indeed. Thanks a lot. Are you aware of how the developer system is changed versus the old system? I figure by standard reckoning I'd be appraoching trusted contributor at this point, but I'm developer level 1. Not sure how this all comes together yet.
Anyway, thanks for your help,
~Dom
EDIT:
I found the following link:
It explains the new features for developers. Does this functionality overwrite the standard forum functionality? In other words, if we have a certain forum status (ie. Regular Contributor), is that still maintained regardless of developer level?

I'm thinking that overrides whatever universal forum status settings there may be, as I described above.

When do you usually reach a Trusted Contributor rank?

I would like to know the current state of affairs. Can't wait for individual avatars. ![]()

At the time of this posting, you have 12 posts. That, along with your time spent online, etc, has earned you the rank of contributor, which is displayed right below your username, above the avatar. Trusted contributor is a few ranks up from where you currently sit.
If you are a developer, it is my understanding that the developer rankings trump the standard forum rankings, and so the rule of thumb stated above no longer applies.
Hope that helps,
~Dom

I was actually looking for a link like this that describes regular ranking, not Developer, anyone know of one?
