The first test was pasting into the "code" popup.  The second was typing directly into the "code" popup.

I use Chrome as my main browser and it's very annoying that I need to open IE just for the BB forums - in-post images don't show up, tables and code blocks loose formatting. It occurs only on the win32 version, the mac version of Chrome works fine. RIM webmasters, please test your site in all major browsers!
