I own a 9700 and faithfully read this forum, Crackberry.com & Blackberryforums.com. I only read the 9700 sections of each.
For what ever reason, this site is slow as can be. Slow to load and slow to change pages within this site. The other two forums load fine without any hesitation. And I am reading these on a computer and not on my blackberry.
Anyone else notice this? And if so, can you figure out why this site is slow?

Two things immediately come to mind when thinking of the relative speed of this forum and the others you make reference to in your post.
1. Browser...some browsers deal with forum loading and page changes better than others...actually it isn't simply a forum issue it is sites in general...
I have IE8, Firefox, Chrome, Opera (what I am using right now), and Safari. I wish i could come up with a hybridization that combined the best features of each and eliminated the faults. I generally like Opera and I multi-task even while wandering about the forum I usually use Opera although for this forum it has some grievous faults. When any of our Elite members post a reply that contains a KBA link Opera absolutely will not change the page. I get a for Opera the WSOD, which is irritating but not Microsoft's infamous BSOD.
Browser part one.
The second part of the speed equation is what forum software and version was used for the forum package itself. The primary and most common forum packages are written either using ASP or PHP although there are others. The forum administrator and site designer had choices to make based upon how easy would it be to be maintained (a primary consideration for them) and secondarily how user friendly they wanted it to be and how many user side options did they want to give us (a primary consideration for us).
Choices were made and they impact how the forum itself loads once on the forum how fast page loads and changes are made.
Now factor in that this forum is not simply a privately owned forum being hosted for a fee but within the greater sphere of Blackberry and you have yet another relative speed factor.
So the next time you visit crackberry and Blackberryforums check out what forum software package they were written under. Most forums I am a member of have a "blurb" generally at the bottom of the forum home page giving that information.
Browser, software package and where the forum resides...they all factor into the speed.

Thanks for the information. When I was using Google Chrome as my default browser, I got into this forum fast. I had hard drive problems on my vista computer, I sent computer back to factory for warranty. When I got computer back, I been using Internet Explorer to browse, and really slow to log on to this and other forums. But I reinstalled Google Chrome, now I can log in to this forum faster. Had Firefox before, but don't know about now. Thanks.![]()
