8. and on to nine...create a permanent locked post with links in it, on the main page that never gets moved or deleted...this is clearly simple.

Definition: Bullets (or bullet points) are small dots, squares, dashes or graphics that begin a short descriptive phrase. Bullets are used rather than sentences on PowerPoint or OpenOffice Impress slides as key phrases that the speaker will discuss in the presentation.

oh OK, Yes, this person Kerri was formerly the community administrator of the forum, but no longer.

She locked that thread so it would have no replies and people asking questions.

do I understand correctly ? What you call an index is the TOC of a FAQ ? If this is what you intend, well there are far too many items to put in that FAQ, so the best is to have people rely on the search form that is on the BTSC (see my signature for a link).

Besides, on the very practical matter of topics, there are for each board, a list of topics that appear at the top of the first page. This feature is widely used on this forum, but we call those "floated topics". People can call them other names : sticky posts, pinned articles and so on.
