[I stupidly posted this in the Bold forum. Reposting here, where this topic obviously belongs.]
Hi, all,
I've read the BlackBerry KB on how to install the East Asian Language packs on my BlackBerry. But I am still confused. The directions say:
But clicking the "Applications" button brings up a window that manages third-party applications, not BlackBerry applications and extensions. It shows all of the third-party applications I have installed (Evernote, Google Maps, WhatsApp, etc.).
There is a "+" button on the left of this applications window, but that brings me to a Finder window to search for files on my Mac. There is a "Start" button, but pressing that without changing checkboxes next to the applications raises the following error: "BlackBerry Desktop Software failed to validate your BlackBerry device update. Aborting install due to validation failure. Some packages contain unsatisfied dependencies."
So, it seems that the KB instructions are incomplete. Exactly where do I see the "East Asian Language and Input Support" option on my Mac BlackBerry Desktop Sofware? Perhaps I am supposed to use Finder to browse to some location on my Mac select an East Asian Pack file?

Hello drummonds,
Is your Mac connected to an internet connection?
Is your device unlocked and you are using a different carrier than that of the one branded to your device?
Backup your device data and reinstall your software as shown in KB19915; once the reload completes try going back into the Add/Remove applications tab.
Let me know how you make out.

Thanks, HMthePirate, for the reply. I finally installed the language pack. But I did so from a Windows system. I could not do so from the Mac desktop software.
In fact, I simply do not understand how this works on the Mac software. From the applications list on my Windows sytem I could clearly see BlackBerry components listed. I could expand one of them for which the language packs were a component. I checked that language pack and the installation went happilly on.
But those rows--the BlackBerry software options--were not visible on the Mac desktop software. The only applications that were visible were the third-party ones I installed myself. So, the device is great. But the Mac software seems lacking.
