That would indicate that 64 bit mode is not enabled.
When you connect your BlackBerry to your Mac, do you notice if you get a charging indicator? Does mass storage mode come up?

Excellent, that means that your Mac is recognizing the device.
Uninstall the Desktop Software and ensure your Mac reboots.
Re-download a new DMG package from www.blackberry.com/mac and install it. Ensure your BlackBerry is NOT connected at the time of installation. You will also need to reboot your Mac.
Before you connect your device, reboot it by doing a battery pull.
When you connect your BlackBerry, it can take several minutes for the connection to complete.
If doing this still doesn't work, call your mobile carrier and ask to have this issue escalated to RIM for further investigation.
