Blackberry 8310 was running slow. The people at the ATT store said I need to update the software. Downloaded the newest version to the desktop and when I tried to upload it to the phone received the following message
"Blackberry Desktop Software Failed to validate your blackberry device update"
"Aborting install due to validation failure. Some packages contained unsatisfied dependencies"
I am sure others have seen it. What do I need to do. Thanks Mike

I was on the phone with RIM technical support for nearly 6 hours on Friday and still there was no resolution. On the weekend I was able to hook my phone up to a PC and the update worked fine if you're looking for a quick fix.

I have had this issue several times on 8520s. I dont know what it is but apparently it has something to do with a corrupted application.
I solved it by going in ON THE DEVICE to Applications and removing apps, both third party and add-ons. Then did a battery pull (or after deleting the last one you can just let it restart now which is wants to do after each deletion.
After it rebooted I didn't get that message when I tried to update and it worked.

Same problem here. No language boxes selected... Can't check or uncheck anything without getting the error message when I get to the next step. I get the same message when I try and upgrade the OS.
I can add programs OTA from App World and I'm able to sync using the Desktop Software... I just can't add/remove programs. I was able to get most of the ones I'm missing from App World, but I still don't have BB Maps, the games it came with and Documents to Go. Very annoying. No solution yet?

I have had this problem again on another 8520, the solution was the same.
On the device, to go Applications and manually delete EVERTHING Third Party and Add-On. Do not delete the OS or things that look like they need to be there to run the phone.
I even deleted Blackberry Attachment Service and Documents To Go. I believe one of these is what corrupts.
Then do a battery pull.
You should then be able to update the OS and reinstall your apps.

Glad to hear. I just did this again last night, and I think I've isolated the specific program that causes the problem, but I can't be sure.
I think it's "Documents To Go".
People might try deleting just that one program first in Options > Applications > Add-Ons if they didn't want to delete everything else too. It's worth a shot.
