How do I restore my backup information to a new device (Blackberry Protect)?

Hi there,

I backed up the data on my BB Bold 9900. I can see the archive in my Blackberry desktop software. But I don't see any options on the screen to allow me to transfer that data to a new (non-Blackberry) device.

Thanks,

Alissa

Sorta like taking a trip, you gotta know where you're headed before asking directions.. and I don't know what device you're headed to. So, you can export device data to a CSV ascii file, which is fairly universal to import into many other applications.

Find out from your new device what and how it will import.

You can export your device data using BlackBerry desktop software v6.1 to a CSV file.

Download 6.1 here

Yes - thank you. A CSV file is exactly what I want. I need to import this data to use on the iPhone my employer gave me for work purposes. I will download from that link.

Just looked more closely at your link and I realize I already have the Blackberry desktop manager software on my computer, but can't figure out where to go to download it as a CSV file. Do you have a screenshot?

Ok. that would v7.1

Like I said above, you'll need v6.1

As far as on a Mac... not sure about the export to ASCII.

But on the Mac, you can certainly sync your BlackBerry data/contacts/calendar, etc., to your Apple mail contacts.

see the chart of possible Mac sync partners here

Article ID: KB29725 Synchronization support of BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac

even the iCloud is included.

Sorry to see you leave BlackBerry... the new BB10 devices will blow away the iPhone is so many ways.

Thanks - very helpful.

I'm only leaving for work, will keep my BBerry Bold for personal use. Still love it. The keyboard is amazing and I cna't imagine how I will tap out a 500 word blo post on that infernal Apple screen keyboard... Looking forward to BBerry 10!

Cool... drop back in if you need further help... I am not a Mac expert, but I own three in my business and I am sure we can figure it out.

Good luck.
