I have successfully downgraded to old Ical.
Calendars successfully reloaded to old Ical on the laptop
Mobileme Syncing is turned OFF
BB and BB Desktop software work great for syncing contacts and notes, no problems here.
HOWEVER -- when i turn on the calendar syncing function and hit sync, it says "updating records" and then the software hangs. I have given it 45 minutes and it is definately in a loop. The BAR on the screen that shows progress does not move.
When I hit "stop" syncing, it does not stop but goes in a different hung loop and the only way to turn of BB Desktop at this stage is a "force quit" from OSX.
So frustrating. Any ideas?

Never had any of the problems that you are experiencing. I do have a MobileMe account that I have used for a number of years with a photo gallery and a website, but I never activated the iCal option of MobileMe. Hopefully, someone will be able to help. (My iCal version is 4.0.4 with OS 10.6.6)

I gave up on Blackberry Desktop software. Deleted it off my laptop.
I downgraded from new ICal back to the old iCal.
Reset sync services on the mac.
Re-installed the Missing Sync program on my Mac.
Everything now works perfectly. Laptop syncs to BB (contacts, ALL calendars even read-only subscriptions calenders, vids, photos, notes, everything)
Also Mobileme is now syncing perfectly with my laptop.
My secretary keeps my calendar on mobileme, and it automatically updates to my laptop and BB when I sync the BB.
Peace at last.!

I had a similar problem – having accepted the Apple invitation to upgrade my MobileMe calendar, syncing with Blackberry calendar would not work. Seems Apple and Blackberry know about the problem, but I have found solution on a couple of forums. You need to downgrade to old MobileMe calendar first and then follow instructions re altering i-Cal permissions. All seems to have worked fine and I can now sync two ways with Blackberry and i-Cal. Am waiting to see if MobileMe calendar syncs with i-Cal but I can live with my BB syncing OK since that’s what travels with me. (it also seems there are problems created with syncing Outlook (see below). Here’s the solution:
Many of us unwittingly clicked to upgrade out calendars to the new one recently launched at www.me.com
But then found Outlook populate with 1 or more new calendars, events no longer in the default Outlook calendar, problems syncing and ambiguity over whether calendar alerts in Outlook would work.
I was one such person and within 60 seconds of completing the upgrade wanted to go back.
Simple - Visit www.me.com/calendar/downgrade
You may have to wait a little for it to do its stuff or it may be immediate.
Tell tale signs you're back on the old calendar are that you are directed to www.me.com/calendar/old when you view the calendar online. Note the /old Also a splash in left sidebar should advertise the new calendar and invite you to upgrade. Don't do it!
Once you've downgraded and confirmed it's worked, MobileMe control panel goes back to it's good self. No messing around having to setup new calendars and new names. Nothing like that at all. Just how it was before.
I'm just performing an initial sync on mine. All looks good so far.
You’ll have to alter i-Cal from read only which it seems to get converted to by the MobileMe upgrade and here’s how that works:
Someone suggested a solution to me that worked. Go into you applications, highlight the ical icon, then click on Get Info. Change the permission from system, back to your user name. It worked right away for me. In my case I had to enter password (login) to allow Finder to alter i-Cal permissions to read/write from read only.

Downgrading will only work for a couple more months. Apple has announced that anyone who has not upgraded by May will be upgraded automatically. I have multiple Macs, so MoblieMe is my only option for keeping my calendars and contacts synced. I wish I could ditch it, but I can't.

No I suspect it's going to screw up again....Had a livechat with Apple support who were no help - just said they couldn't advise me....However, I then had the idea that if you're like me and use the BB as a roving diary/calendar, you send yourself an email invitation which then goes to your calendar......that seems to be a possibility.....anyone any other thoughts.......?

Was forced to go to the new mobileme and now, like everyone else, I can't sync calendar with my blackberry (although contacts sync fine).
The message I get is "There are no writable Calendars available for syncing on this computer."
Has anyone found a fix for this yet? I've looked all over and can't find anything.
