desktop software failing to validate my BB device update

apparently it keeps aborting due to validation failure and some packages contained unsatisfied dependencies.

 

Does anyone have any idea what the heck that means and how I can update my BB?  I have updated the desktop software and I'm running on Mac OS10.7.5

 

I thought I'd try updating because although the phone recieves text messages, it won't send them.

still waiting. I'm rather of a mind not to renew my blackberry contract simply on the basis of the non-existent customer service.

Hey - so - I've only had my BB 2-3 days or maybe I'd have a little more advice, but I ran into a similar thing where I just couldn't text certain numbers. I was putting in a 7-digit number (when it had the same area code as mine) and it was failing due to "only 7-digits". I retried sending with an edited phone number but it kept failing. I found that I had to delete the conversation and start over from scratch in order for it to actually forget the 7-digit input.

Anyway, maybe it's what you're running into, maybe not.

Thanks for that BK, but my problem isn't texting or dialing, it's doing software updates.  

 

Given the complete lack of consumer support from RIM, come the end of my contract I'll be switching over to apple or another smartphone.  If they can't be bothered to provide some kind of technical support to people like me who've been using BB for 6 years, then they deserve to be losing custom.

No problem and I agree with you. I'm having problems with the same things on software updates, so I can't give you any advice on that :smileywink:

If you travel a lot, BB's are the best... if you don't really, you won't feel it much I think if you switch. Apple's tech support is very good

Sorry to hear you're having an issue updating your software.

 

To clarify, you connect your device to your Mac, launch BlackBerry Desktop Software and are seeing an error? 

 

Can you provide the error in full as it appears or a screen shot of it?

 

What is your Desktop Software version? What is the current software version your device? Who is your mobile network carrier?
