you have to revert to Version 6. Its the only way I could get my 9700 to start to sync again

The RIM 'holding' knowledge article implies that the problem is the time taken on the first sychronisation i.e. it gets there in the end. I see some posts that support that. Is that our experts considered view?
I left mine overnight but my PC seems to have restarted (perhaps the program ended?) and this morning the program has gone back into a freeze but with hard disk and CPU activity.
