I recently upgraded on Vodafone from my BB Pearl 9105 to a Samsung S3. My BBM was working up until yesterday but now it no longer sends or receives messages. Is there any way to get it to resume function or is this a result or no longer being subscribed to some BB service?

Yup, no BlackBerry Data Plan on the Pearl 9105, no BBMessenger.
