BDM question - backups on failed drive

Hi

I have a PC where the drive now fails to boot, but the data is still accessible.

I have rebuilt Windows XP on another drive.

If I re-install BDM, is it possible to copy the old backups from the failed boot drive to the new one?

IE. are they specific files that can be moved to the new Manager?

Thanks

Re: BDM question - backups on failed drive

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

The RIM Desktop Software will backup to files with either IPD or BBB extension, depending on which version of the software was used to take the backup. So, if you can access those files, then you will indeed have your prior backups from that failed drive.

Good luck!

That directory is empty.

Clearly the user stated to me that it made backups!

Where else might they have gone?

Hmmm...I don't recall, in our discussion, anything about a specific directory...so I've no feedback on this point.

They would have gone wherever the user configured...normally, they are in the MyDocuments hierarchy, but the user has 100% control over the destination directory. You should search the entire drive for files with the relevant extension.
