Calendar sync with BB Curve 8530 to PC with Windows 8

Recently purchased new computer using Windows 8.  Lost Microsoft Outlook in the transition.  Am trying to configure a calendar (Yahoo, Google, etc..), but get error message when syncing.."the organizer applications on your computer are not supported."

This is my spouses BB and she needs to have this calendar backed up on the new computer.  Need help!!!

Please use plain text.

Re: Calendar sync with BB Curve 8530 to PC with Windows 8

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

You have a couple of problems then...refer:

Since that does not list Win8, you may well have moved your computer beyond that which is supported by the BlackBerry Desktop Software. There are reports of folks getting it to work on Win8, but you'd need to search for their threads to figure out if there are any "tricks" you need.

Secondly, refer:

  • KB12268Synchronization support for BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows

Similarly, you need to be using a desktop app that is compatible.

However -- depending on exactly what you require, you may not need a desktop app at all...since you said that you want to sync with Google and/or Yahoo, you might be able to sync what you need OTA (Over The Air)...refer:

  • KB00561 How to configure wireless calendar synchronization on a BlackBerry smartphone
  • KB22430 How to enable or disable wireless contact synchronization with BlackBerry Internet Service

Good luck!
