Desktop Software for PC

I am trying to install the software from the disc that came with the phone, and I have also tried downloading it and installing it that way and still no luck. I am using Windows XP.

I get the following:

The InstallShield Wizard pops up and says

Status: Pending    Requirement: Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 SP1

and when I click Install, at first it says

Status: Downloading

And then an error message pops up:

while downloading the file http://saturn.installshield.com/prerequisites/microsoft .net framework 2.0 sp1.prq. What would you like to do?     Retry    or    Cancel

If I click Retry it just does the same thing over and over again. If I click cancel, the message changes to:

An error occurred while downloading the file http:..download.microsoft.com/download/0/8/c/08c19fa4-4c4f-4ffb-9d6c-150906578c9e/NetFX20SP1_x86.exe. What would you like to do?    

Retry    or    Cancel

Again, Retry just repeats the message. The final message after clicking Cancel again reads:

The files for installation requirement Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 could not be found. The installation will now stop. This is probably due to a failed, or canceled download.   Yes   No

And then it just closes. This happens whether I try to install from the disc or from a downloaded file. What do I do?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

It sounds as if there is a prerequisite for .Net that your system does not meet, and when attempting to obtain and install that, it is failing for some reason. I suggest you do Windows Update and install everything that your system is missing...then try the DTM install again (after a fresh reboot).

As in, there were no updates? As in, the result is precisely and exactly the same as your original post? Please let us know what the update process resulted in. BTW...you did run it multiple times, right? You are aware that sometimes, after you reboot from a Windows Update, there can still be more updates needed?

I updated, there are no more updates available, and my results in trying to download the software are the same.

Hi,

Thanks for the solution. since there are too many kudos i guess its working fine for most of the users. however im facing a peculiar problem. i cant install the bb desktop manager due to the same net framework issues. When i tried to click on the above link to download it, it just wont download. it gives me an error stating that this page cannot be displayed. Tried in on chrome, mozilla and the IE but still no help. can someone please provide me with the solution.. thanks

Dear all  I Can't get Blackberry Desktop Software to install, i have downloaded blackberry desktop software, but when i trying to install ,that time error comes which is "Blackberry software require that ur computer is running  xp sp3 or letter so that i cant install it (.netframework) require which does not run into my pc. pls help me...
