I think the installer package is damaged. Please download again and install. Don't use download accelerators to download. It can cause currupt file. If the file is good try this fore install instryctions http://www.techyv.com/questions/reinstallation-bla

Agreed - "This file is invalid for use as the following: Security Certificate".
Also tried without the Begin/End header lines, no diff. Tried on an XP sp3 machine and a Win7 64 bit - both same error.

Was a copy/paste problem from this thread - it inserted a '?' in the middle of each row.
When I copied from the original tech thread it did not put in the '?' :
Once the '?' were removed, the cert installed and the desktop software installed as well. I can just imagine how many non tech people have run into this and just gave up...

Strange. If I right-click and choose the Install Certificate option I get the same error verbiage you indicate below (This file is invalid for use as the following: Security Certificate). If I double-click the file, a Certificate Window opens and I can choose the Install Certificate button, then the Cert Import Wizard runs and it works fine for the file without the Begin/End header.
The cert I created with the Begin/End Headers gets the error either way, right-click or double-click.

Look for the extra ? I mentioned above, and either cut/paste again from another link or remove the ? from each line.

Hello, I am having the same problem of not being able to install it due to certificates issues. However I tried doing this but when I try to import it I get a message that states the file type is not recognizable. Select another file. And I really need to download it in order to transfer data from my old BB to my new one. Thank you so much.
