I think it must be something to do with my PC, as I can link up ok with my wife's laptop and the PC in work. I have tried everything, even going in the registry, searching for RIM and Research in Motion and deleting absolutely every reference to them - still no luck! Aaahhgh!!

OK...then I think you should focus on the USB method (make 100% certain you are using the original BB USB cable and not something else), using post 8 above to try and work through various possible issues. BT is trickier than USB to get working...so I recommend focusing first on USB.
