Device OS version shown wrong in Desktop Manager

Strange problem.  Everything is working fine.  I have a Bold with 4.6.0.185, the latest OS.  I updated to the new Desktop Manager, 4.7 earlier today.

Everything syncs and works fine, but in Desktop Manager, if I go HELP --> Device Properties, it shows the correct device info including the OS, but if I go HELP --> About Blackberry Desktop Manager and then click on the Device Software tab, it shows the previous version, 4.6.0.162.

Why is this happening?

Thank you

Re: Device OS version shown wrong in Desktop Manager

Did you do the upgrade on that PC or another? The .162 is what is loaded on your PC.

Re: Device OS version shown wrong in Desktop Manager

I did upgrade to .162 on this machine, but I also upgraded to .185 on this machine yesterday.

When you say it's "loaded on my PC", where is it?  What directory, cause I can't find it.

Re: Device OS version shown wrong in Desktop Manager

look at c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\loaderfiles and you will find all the OSs loaded to your PC there.

What's there?  You can uninstall the ones you don't need from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the one you don't need.

Re: Device OS version shown wrong in Desktop Manager

None there.  I must have deleted it. I've got the downloaded 4.6.0.185 on my hard drive.  I don't want to have to go through the install again including updating the device, as you have to re-setup some programs, put in passwords, etc.  Is it possible to do the install of the .185 OS to the PC so that the BDM sees it, but not have to update the device again?

Re: Device OS version shown wrong in Desktop Manager

On your BB, look at options > About. What is the third line down, starting with the 'v.4.xxx"

You don't remember UNinstalling those Operating Systems from the PC?

And no, I don't recall removing it, but I may have.

Re: Device OS version shown wrong in Desktop Manager

Well, someone did, or the OS would still be installed to the PC, or you aren't looking in the correct directory on the computer.

Do a full c: search on the folder "shared"

Re: Device OS version shown wrong in Desktop Manager

I have searched the entire drive.  There was nothing related to RIM.  I have also manually searched Program Files\Common Files, Program Files\Research in Motion, and the application data under my home directory, and don't find the .185 OS file.

Re: Device OS version shown wrong in Desktop Manager

Ok, one last search on your PC, the entire c: drive, search for "blackberry.alx"

Anything?
