Error 1723 - Long time loyal Blackberry TOUR user - cannot install recent desktop manager

I cannot install the latest desktop manager on Windows 7.  I have used this phone for YEARS and also syncd fine.  Now I am dead in the water.  The latest install package needs TO BE FIXED.  Well into the installation I get the following message:

 

"Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. ActionRepairRimUsbDriverNT.07D232B6_7904_4970_8B22_8F…"

 

I have resisted the urge to "upgrade" to the popular newer smart phones from other companies, but I will have to leave Blackberry forever if this problem is not fixable (fixed) within the next few days.

 

Please help.

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

doesn't work - I'm ditching BB as I cannot upload BB desktop manager as the programme just hangs "Not Responding". I've tried uninstall, install, disable security then uninstall/install......just go round in circles. It'll have to be Apple.

Select your Blackberry Model - Your Service Provider.- Verify the Blackberry Desktop Software, which displays and download the latest related to your model.... Those are specifically suitable for your blackberry model... Hope this help..

Actually, not quite...the issue for the OP was the Desktop Software, the link you provided is for Device Software. Indeed, the full portal for Device Software is thus:

There is only one version of Desktop Software, while there are hundreds of versions of Device Software. The Desktop Software, installed to the PC first, followed by installation to the PC of the specific Device Software, is the best way to ensure proper functionality between the PC and the device. However, as with all technology, there is no 100% guarantee.
