While I was looking for older DTMs (RIM removed last year's version on Aug.29 ?) I discovered on this page what you were looking for:
http://ca.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/des
go to the bottom and select 'Download earlier versions of Blackberry Desktop Software for PCs' to get here: (Note the other links are for confirmation only, since the are https ('s' = secured links) one can not get there by selecting it but has to enter through the first link).
select: 'Blackberry Desktop Software (Windows OS)' and then 'next' to get here:
https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/brows
go down to: File name: BlackBerry Device Manager_ENG.msi and download it.
I installed it on a PC without DTM and device software and when I connected my torch the device manager started automatically. I then ran loader.exe 6.0.1.15 from a USB stick on this PC and it worked OK. I saw references to DTM while the device manager software installed but when the dust settled it was the Device Manager from RIM.
I hope this link helps but why not try the loader 6.0.1.15 solution (see my previous posting and make sure you end up with loader.exe 6.0.1.15 version in the 'AppLoader' folder after the installation dust of DTM and device software has settled? If the loader worked, send a short techi-feedback about your lemon USB host controllers and the good one on the one laptop?

as it should be. but for all of us. We should n't have to find a solution to bb's own engineering software problems. They are the lazy ones.
