Heya,
First off thanks for your time and effort.
My BB Curve went to the great cellphone store in the sky a couple of weeks ago. Luckily I backed my phone contacts up with BB desktop manager 5.0. However, I'm trying to sync these contacts to gmail, and no dice. Nada, Nothing, Zip.

Logging into BB dm, it tells me to connect my device for every single category (applications, organizer, files). This is quite impossible as my device is dead.

So am I hooped? Or is there a magical way around this?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

The backup file is intended for only one purpose -- to be used as the source of data for a restore to a BB. Natively, there is no other purpose, and the file is of a proprietary format (e.g., not human-readable).

But, there are 3rd party PC apps out there that can parse and present the file to you in human-readable format. A few seconds on Google (search for "BBB Reader" or "IPD Reader", depending on which backup file format you have) and I'm sure you'll find good candidates for your purpose, and they should be free.
