Re: MAPI login failed: Cannot sync DM with Torch anymore

I have just had to unistall the DM v7 and install v6.

This seems incredible! Why have there not fixed this?

The only good news is that the new iphone should be released in the next few months.

And after 9 years and 7 devices from BB, I am off.......

Hello,

Well, based on the information available, I disagree...it is impossible for us to know what percentage of the user base has this problem and what percentage has no problems and all works fine. We know for sure that some have problems, but we pretty much never hear from folks with no problems. In my experience on this site, I'd judge (subjective, yes) that the level of problems we're seeing with the migration to Desktop Software 7 is no better nor worse than what we saw with the migration from 4 to 5, and then again from 5 to 6. In my unscientific estimation, there is therefore nothing now "worse" than ever before, which would indicate to me that the percentage of problems that RIM is calculating is not any more severe than at any other time. But, then again, there's no way for anyone on this user-to-user community to know anything with 100% certainty!

Good luck with your iPhone -- but I do recommend you doing complete research so as to be ready for the batch of problems that will come about with it. No device nor software, designed and built by humans, can be expected to achieve any kind of perfection, after all.

Good luck!

Re: MAPI login failed: Cannot sync DM with Torch anymore

In fairness though RIM say that their devices are business devices. There are so many people in business that use out look you would expect RIM to be all over it, especially since its been like this for over a month. I have lots of problems getting my app world to work as well. I just can't afford to be spending time looking continually for solutions to these sort of problems.

I pay so much for using this device, yet i have to trawl forums looking for solutions, which by looking at the age of some of the posts don't seem to get resolved.

I see my friends using other devices that can do this and that and mine can't even sync my calendar!

I think I'll have to go the same way and say goodbye after my contract ends!

In my judgment, they are all over it...but, as "outsiders", there is just no way for us to know what is going on inside of RIM. Further, my point above is that, from the "bad" reports here, there is no way to judge if the quantity is an adequate percentage of the total population to warrant, for instance, recall. It is my opinion that the data truly available to us, as "outsiders", is inadequate to extrapolate to the total population.

Age of posts, in a public non-formal forum, aren't really a useful measure either, IMHO. There is no SLA that any post be responded to, and the OP may well just walk away and never come back...so their thread will age, but that means nothing as far as solutions are concerned. There further is no requirement (nor mechanism, really) to re-post in all threads that had a particular problem once a solution is actually found.

It's a pity you haven't tried the remedies already recommended...for instance, if this latest version of the Desktop Software does not work for you, there is available prior versions, which seem to help a great many of those who have these problems, and get them going.

But, we can only recommend...everyone remains in control of their destiny.

Good luck!

Re: MAPI login failed: Cannot sync DM with Torch anymore

[ Edited ]

I got that same error, but I think i figured out what the problem was. The  default "Outlook" profile although associated with MAPI account ( which according to my was a windows live account),  used to show that same error.

So I proceeded to create a new profile with office 2010 where it asked me to set up an email account. This time I did not not use a MAPI account , but rather a pop3 account. When I configured to the profile to that pop3 account, it successfully synced my calender and tasks. The memo did not pan out , but I am not worried about that.

Secondly I used that pop3 account , to public share the calender. Under my windows live account, I added the link to my shared calender account in my pop3 account.

This is my workaround . Althought many of you will not have a pop3 account, you can simply sign up a gmail account and get pop3 access to it. Set the outlook to the gmail account and it should pan out. Whenever creating calender entries, make sure that you do it in the pop3 account and it should sync with the blackberry.

Re: MAPI login failed: Cannot sync DM with Torch anymore

I am sorry to say that I am done with Blackberry.

After 3 days of trying to get Outlook to Sync with my Torch 9800, I give up.

I can't count the hours that I've wasted trying to correct weak code on your part.

It's a shame. A great Canadian company wasted. And you didn't even get the hockey team after neglecting your bread and butter.
