Hi!
Sometimes my Blackberry Desktop Software cannot communicate with the connected device but when it can, it starts backsuping all my data until it hits Backing up Smart Card Options and then it stalls. I lose my connection to the Desktop Software.
As such, I'm certain that it isn't a USB cable issue. I did just update my Blackberry Desktop Software to the latest version so I'm not sure if that is a factor or not.
If anyone can help me with this problem, it'd be much appreciated! ![]()

Regarding that, here is the list of troubleshooting articles...hopefully something will be useful:
Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.

Here is a KB that discusses that error:
Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.
Good luck and let us know!

Thank you for your reply and help!
I tried - KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader and KB29522 "Error backing up databases" message is generated at Smart Card Options database when backing up the BlackBerry smartphone using the BlackBerry Desktop Software - for both issues and all is well now!
Even though updating my phone completely deleted all my data - completely worth it.
Thank you!
