Outlook 2010 not listed by intellisync as program for contacts or schedule

hi, I use Windows 7 with BB Desktopsoftware 6.01.018 and Outlook 2010. But if I want to syncronise my Schedule or contacts, I cannot choose outlook - it ist not listed! Only Windows 7 contacts, ASCII Import and Yahoo.

What is going wrong? I used to syncronised my BB in former times with Win XP and Outlook 2007 - no Problem. But now, I do not know what to do. I started Outlook and the BB Software as Admin - but also the same problem. I switched off all firewalls.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!

kind regards.

Re: Outlook 2010 not listed by intellisync as program for contacts or schedule

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

Please check this KB to see if it applies:

  • KB24040Support for Microsoft Office 2010 Click-to-Run installation

Hopefully it contains something useful!

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Outlook 2010 not listed by intellisync as program for contacts or schedule

I have the same problem as Kerski, after I have only changed my default folder of Outlook 2010.

Sorry sdgardne, but that tip was not helpfully for me, rather a very typically workaround from Microsoft. Many letters and no benefit for ALL customers of that company.

Shall I install my operating system "windows 7" again? :-(

Ummm...pardon me...but you do realize that "tip" was provided almost 1 year ago. Things may well be different now.

Unfortunately, I can't quite tell exactly what you had, what you did, and what is going on with your configuration now. Perhaps if you provided more details? As in...what, exactly, do you mean by "changed my default folder"? Also, what exact version of the desktop software are you using? And, is your version of Outlook 2010 installed as "Click to Run" rather than the full version (since the instructions in that linked KB still apply...)?

You also are certainly free to search those KBs for articles that perhaps are more useful to your exact situation; the KB's are free to everyone.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Outlook 2010 not listed by intellisync as program

Ups, sorry, I overlooked the little date. Things will never be the same. :-)

Anyway, thank you for your quick reply.

My configuration in a few words:

- Microsoft Windows 7 professional, 64 bit
- Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 (this is not a "click & run" version!)
- BlackBerry Desktop Software (BDS) version 6.1.0.35
- BlackBerry Bold 9780 (BB)

I have changed my default e-mail file in Outlook 2010 a few days ago, because over the years such files will be very big. Now I have a brand new emtpy file for a lot of e-mails. The "old" file is closed and Outlook have no access to this file. Such file contains all e-mails, calendars, contacts, and so on.
After this simple change, the BDS can't synchronize my e-mails anymore. It can't find any folder during the synchronisation so the process must be aborted. There is no synchronisation possible. It's clear, the old file is closed and for both software components not available. I thought the BDS will recognize this change and everything will be all right, but that was wrong.
I have erased my device in BDS and set the same BB as a new device. Click the menu item "personal organizer" in BDS and you can configure your synchronisation. In the list of available applications is Outlook 2010 suddenly not listed, so I can't synchronize my data with Outlook 2010. What the hell ist this? The same problem as written above.

I hope you understand my big problem. Do you have an idea?

Re: Outlook 2010 not listed by intellisync as program

Thanks for the details...here's what I surmise...

  1. You had everything working fine, with all of the versions listed.
  2. You changed the file into which Outlook delivers emails to a new file (either a new OST or a new PST, I cannot tell).
  3. You did not populate the new file with any data (e.g., calendar items, contact items, etc.) from the old file.
  4. You closed the old file in Outlook.
  5. You attempted to synchronize, via the BB desktop software, and it failed (any error messages?).
  6. You removed your BB/Outlook configuration from the desktop software.
  7. You then attempted to re-configure your BB/Outlook in the desktop software, but it is no longer offering Outlook as an available organizer application with which to synchronize.

Is that about right?

If so, there are a few options...I did some searching for you in the public KBs and found this one:

  • KB02362 Microsoft Outlook is unavailable as a translator when synchronization options are configured on the BlackBerry Desktop Software

Perhaps one of the recommendations therein will be useful for you.

As another thing to try, here is a procedure I've given out to totally start over with the Desktop Software. If you wish to attempt that, then I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.

Further, it has also been reported that when your user profile on windows (type 'echo %userprofile%' in the command prompt) contains spaces, then the installer will not work. In order to solve this issue, log out of your Windows account and log back in using the local Administrator account (or any other account name without spaces) and install the desktop (for all users).

1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)

2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM Desktop Software:

    • KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    • Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB...be sure to search your registry for any related to RIM
    • Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
    • Still others have reported the use of your original PIM (e.g., Outlook, NOTES, etc.) installation CD, running the "repair" process, to be helpful in some situations

3) Get a fresh download of the RIM Desktop Software:

4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your already-installed (to your BB) device OS package from your carrier:

5) Install the Desktop Software to your PC

6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package

7) Start the organizer configuration over:

    • KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
    • KB23681How to configure organizer data synchronization settings using BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0

Hopefully that will get things going again.

Good luck and let us know!
