Redirected emails contain text/plain attachemnt

Had my Tour for a week now and my redirector seems to be working properly but some messages come through with a text/plain attachment and no "body". I assume the attachment is the email but I never had this problem before with 8830. I did upgrade my desktop software to the latest that came with the tour. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Redirected emails contain text/plain attachemnt

I have having the same issue on my new Tour.  It is inconsistent in that I will receive an attachment from a person and it will work, but the new email from that person does not work.  If I forward the non working email  from my Tour to another Tour user, it works fine for them.  Any suggestions?

Re: Redirected emails contain text/plain attachemnt

I just started having this problem with my Tour on Tuesday afternoon (July 21st), after over 1 week without having any issues.  I use my device for work (that is, with Blackberry Enterprise Server).  Out IT director called RIM, and was advised that RIM is aware of the issue and it can only fixed with an update to the server.  I'm going to return my device, as it's useless to me if I can't read emails, and my office can't take our server offline just to fix my problem (and the next scheduled maintenance on the server isn't for another 6 weeks)...

Re: Redirected emails contain text/plain attachemnt

Actually this appears to be an issue caused by third-party apps that register a handler for the 'text/xml' type.  I believe that it has also been identified on the Storm (same OS version as the Tour) by users of pre-release OS v5.0 on various devices.  Specifically, the following apps have been identified on various BlackBerry comunity forums as causing the issue:

  • PodTrapper -- the developer has since released a beta version to address the issue;
  • RSA SecurID Token for BlackBerry;
  • SmrtGuard -- the developer has identified the issue and hopes to release an update by week's end.

If you currently have any of these apps installed, I suggest uninstalling them until an update is available.

Hope this helps...

Re: Redirected emails contain text/plain attachemnt

I tested my apps by removing them one by one.  In the end none of them had any effect and then I removed app world...problem went away such that I could see previously unreadable message properly.  So, I reinstalled app world and then my apps one by one - problem did not reappear during this process...worked properly for a day.  Un-installed Blackberry App World software ONLY...problem has been gone for 2 weeks.  Food for thought.
