I have an backup file with the extension .cab and when I try to restore it the Blackberry desktop didn't recognize it as a backup file knowing that lately I am using Version 7 and the extension of the backup are .bbb
From memory, the *.cab file is the backup of files on the internal memory. Their should be an accompanying *.ipd or *.bbb file that is the actual backup of settings tc that you need.
Blackberry backups are either in IPD or BBB format. Blackberry Desktop Manager does not recognize .cab files, that is why you are having issues restoring it back to your phone. Restore the BBB file you have instead. If you just need particular files in the backup, you can extract BBB backups using Blackberry Backup Extractor.
