Synching calendar from Bold 9780 with Outlook 2007 - I'm having problems - Please help!

I am trying to synch my 9780 with Outlook so that my calendar entries are the same on my Outlook as they are on my phone.

 

More often than not I alway enter appointments into my phone initially as I have it with me at all times - naturally!

 

When I try to synch using the Desktop software using the configuration Phone to Computer - there's nothing appearing in Outlook in my calendar.

 

What am I doing wrong?

These are older screenshots since there is a newer version of the desktop manager.  I'm not sure what you've tried at this point.  Please do a full backup first using the desktop manager and blackberry protect before proceeding.  The link for protect is in my signature.

It all seems a bit complicated and involved - especially as I am no IT specialist by any stretch!

 

The causes/solutions will take some working through but looking at the second link, that would describe my problem to a tee.

 

I have had a look at the resolution but what the guy describes on his phone ain't on mine!

 

I have Bold 9780 - I don't know what he is describing but I'm not getting any of the options or calendar settings that he seems to be able to see - perhaps my phone is a little dated - I don't know.

 

It's a pity there is no way of asking the question to whoever the contributor is.

 

Which highlights my view that forum advice is OK but slow and fraught.  By the time I have sorted this out, if ever, it will be time to upgrade my phone and then I will probably have a new set of problems to sort out!

gotcha.  What email service do you use?  There may be another way.  Is the calendar linked to an online account like yahoo / gmail, etc?

My email comes through Utility Warehouse which is my broadband provider.  Outlook 2007 gathers that for me and saves me having to login to the UW web site to retrieve my mail.

 

My calendar, I wouldn't have thought, would hsve snything to do with my email, I assumed it was totally seperate.

 

I do have email accounts with Yahoo but they are not set up in my 9780 or PlayBook.  In fact I only use them because they are historic.  The one through BT was a because BT was a previous provider and the other was set up so that I could contribute to Yahoo Answers, but that's by the by!  Nowt to do with my current problem!

 

I've input the appointments and events from my phone calendar that wouldn't go over to my Outlook calendar manually  for the time being until I obtain a solution.

 

I can always try using some dummy entries when that happens just to trial it.

I'm going to ask my friends to look at this too.  Maybe thay have a suggestion I overlooked.  I'm wondering if the entries on your phone are linked to a different default calendar compared to what is configured in outlook.

Resolution

 
  1. Open the BlackBerry smartphone calendar.
  2. Press the BlackBerry (menu) button.
  3. Select New Appointment.
  4. Check the default calendar listed in the New Appointment window at the top.
  5. Exit the calendar.
  6. Navigate to Options > Advanced Options > Default Service.
  7. Check the Calendar entry. Change it to the Calendar that was list under the New Appointment.

 

This is the resolution found at the link you have given me.

 

My phone is a Bold 9780 - I think maybe it is a bit dated for these instructions because I cannot see what they instructions are pointing me to.

 

When I select New Appointment, I do not see any Calendar name listed.

 

However, if I return to the BB menu, I do see a menu option for Select Calendar.

 

If I select this I see 3 options with "buttons at the left of them:

 

Show All Calendars

A calendar that is denoted as my email address (obviously for security I am not going to give this here!)

Default

 

The latter two options also have a square to the right of them - no idea what they are for.

 

The calendar option selected is Show All Calendars.

 

If I select my email address (the second option) and have a look at the calendar all of my entries are there.

 

If I select Default there are no entries.

 

So where do I go from here?

 

Which one do I choose.  I don't really understand what I should do.

 

Back to the resolution - when I exit the calendar if I navigate to Options, (I assume this is the wrench icon), I do not gat an option entitled Advanced Options, so I cannot progress there either, (i.e. I cannot select Default Service).

 

I'm totally confused.

Which calendar are all of your entries stored under? Your email address? Let's start there and once we know which calendar the entries are stored under, we can move to the next step... Selecting the correct calendar to sync with on the Desktop Software.
