Synchronization Error Using OS 7

For the past week I've been unable to synchronize my Torch 9860 with my newly installed desktop software, v7.

The device synchronized perfectly until I upgraded software on my Windows 7 machine. Within 5 seconds of initiating a Sync, a BB Desktop Software window pops up with the following message:

Caught_com_error exception. Description(): (null); Error(): -2147312566 (0x80029C4A); ErrorMessage(): Error loading type library/DLL.; Source(): (null)

I can find very few references to that error code via Google, and no references on the support forum. Any ideas?

For troubleshooting purposes I've been attempting to find a version of the latest v6 software so that I can revert back to the last working version. Any ideas on where I can find it?

Thanks for your assistance!

Re: Synchronization Error Using OS 7

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Search here in these forums and you will find many with identical or similar errors to yours. If those are not helpful, sometimes a complete "start over" cleanly can help...here's a process:

Failing that, one can fall back to older versions...here's a site with some:

Good luck!

Re: Synchronization Error Using OS 7

Great advise. Thank you!

I was able to fall back to an older release of desktop software (v6.1.0.35) and everything works fine (or at least as expected) again. Desktop v7 and my computer don't play together at all. I'll figure out that issue when I'm forced to. For now v6.1 works just fine.

Thanks,

L
