Transfer BB Contacts to Home Computer

Hi - I have a new Blackberry Curve 8900 which is loaded with contacts. I have backed up the handheld files to PC via Desktop Manager 4.7.

How can I read/use the Contacts on my home PC? Can I open the file with DM4.7? Alternatively can I populate an address book in Outlook Express? I do not want to "sync" my present Outlook Express address book with BB contacts. I would like to have the BB contacts as a standalone resource on my PC. I believe I could create a new (blank) address book in Outlook Express but I can't figure out how to transfer from handheld to the PC.

Thank you for any insights into this issue.

-Frank

Re: Transfer BB Contacts to Home Computer

Frank, Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.

Yes you can use Outlook Express (and I am not greatly familar with OE), but yes you can.

Figure out in OE how to create the second OE profile.

Then using BlackBerry Desktop Manager, click on SYNC, and open it. In the sync > configuration you will find options to set the program in which the sync function will connect... set that and you will be ready to go.

Re: Transfer BB Contacts to Home Computer

I have transfered contacts to home computer and have them in a document folder, now I can't read them because of the .ipd extension?  Can someone help?  Just wanting a copy, lost last phone and all contacts.  Using Bold, thanks.

Thank you for your response. Yes - creating a new profile allows for a new OE address book and does the trick.

Thanks again.

Re: Transfer BB Contacts to Home Computer

You can google for and find ABC Amber converter for the IPD file...

Much easier to just sync to Outlook.

Re: Transfer BB Contacts to Home Computer

I want to send my phone contacts on blackberry to my computer and be able to use it from the computer. Is that possible? Without backing up anywhere (phone or device). Just plain old use of the phone numbers. Thank you.
