I've gone back to 5.01, too. Won't try 6 again until my service provider (T-Mobile) offers it "officially".

Did you all use the clean uninstall procedure for desktop manager?
It will prevent a lot of problems down the road.

"Unknown error reported" appears during organizer data configuration using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Do those with the unknown error see the same in the sync log?

McRob What PC OS are you running? Do you have full system admin rights?
you have to run cmd in adminstrator mode, just click the start button -> type cmd and right click, then choose execute as administrator.

I have the same problem and cannot find the resolution. Uninstalling old and new versions of DM did not solve the problem. What did you exactly do to solve it?

Please be very specific in posting list your PC , model BB device, type of connection. We need your PC OS,your organizer software and version as well as your device OS version. There are two different problems in this one thread right now. The more data you provide the better we can understand the exact nature of your problem. OK?
Vollem did you use the clean unistall procedure when you uninstalled? If not I suggest you do. The link is posted lealer in this thread

I use Microsoft Windows XP Professional 2002 SP3. My BB is a BB Storm 9500 with OS version 5.0.0.484. I uninstalled DM 6.0.0 with the uninstall button. I was not able to clean uninstall the previous version.

Hi all,
Great update RIM, nothing but trouble. Nice timewaster.
Thanks to this forum/thread I (only) spent 30 minutes directly de-installing DM 6, downloaded an old (random) version DM 5 and restored the installation. DM 5 always worked fine for me and there isn't any 'new' functionality added any way, which is forth this hassle.
Just a new look (who cares) and a nice bug offcourse which prevents me from using the only function I need: my organizer. I switched OFF the update-function. I'll have another look for DM 6 in +18 months or so.
Need to say: I like my Curve 8250!

I just made a clean uninstall, booted the PC and re-installed DM 6. The problem is not solved. See the following screen shot:
If I try to synch, I get the following error:
But when I'm trying to do it, I get the error message (first screen shot) again ...
Any idea to proceed?

Hi voellm,
I wish that would have solved it. It was still worth doing, I can't tell you how many desktop software problems are the result of old registry entries, unregistered .dlls,
etc. Thank you very much for the screen shots they will be a big help.
