Re: new desktop manager sw and failed synchronization

I determined that the calendar on my 9930 was corrupted by DTM 7.  Soooo, after the uninstall/reboot/system clean/reboot/reinstall/battery pull/reboot, the first thing I did was do a restore of my calendar only to a backup of the device made prior to the hedious/insidious DTM 7.  For me it was 2-11-12.  Sure, I knew I was losing a number of appointments but WTH.  Then I did a one way sync from Outlook 2010 to device of future items only and replacing all data on the device.  Bingo.  Then I changed it back to 2 way sync and no problem.  Entered what appointments I remembered in Outlook and resync. OK.  Contacts worked fine but it always did.  So home notebook fine.  My desktop at work will have to wait.

Re: new desktop manager sw and failed synchronization

I forgot to state that I couldn't get past the calendar on the device during sync of reversion to 6.1 because as the scan got to the end, it would kick out the "connector specific error" message.  I looked and had duplicate recurring entries on many device calendar entries. I suspect that this is what DTM 7 did the first time it tried to sync and this caused the reversion to DTM 6.1 to fail.

Re: new desktop manager sw and failed synchronization

There is no need to download V6.1 from a third party site... The link from the site of RIM is th right one.

No need to rush untested DM SW!!!! Take your time guys

Re: new desktop manager sw and failed synchronization

Not iPhones for us. We are going to the new Windows Phone with the Droid Razor Max as our second choice.

For us, there is no need to rush a new update at all. In fact I wish the last one had never come out.

Re: new desktop manager sw and failed synchronization

I made it work on ine system:

Uninstall all programs related to BB Desktop manager.

Manually delete the following folders:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion

C:\Users\(main user)\AppData\Local\Research In Motion

Restart.

Reinstall BB DM, but an older version:

BlackBerry_Desktop_Manager_6.1_b20 worked for me.

After that and once you reconfigure synchronization, it is fine to install b038

Hope this helps.

Re: new desktop manager sw and failed synchronization

Then, I made the other computer work too. I have the feeling there is something orphaned in the User's AppData when the Upgrade to 7 happened. Probably just delteing such folder and reconfiguring DM al lwill work; however I did not test that.

Anyway, the previous steps made it work.

Cheers!

Re: new desktop manager sw and failed synchronization

Blackberry have comprehensively failed customers by not fully testing the new desktop software before releasing it AND then failing to notify customers of a viable solution. Nor did they tell Vodafone of a viable solution.  I have wasted several hours on this over the last 7 days. These problems indicate a very unprofessional attitude to customers, contrary to my previous experience, and certainly incline me to think of choosing another manufacturer for my next device.

I have now downloaded the old software from another site as recommended in the forum and things are back to normal, but no thanks to Blackberry.
