sychronization error

ive been trying to sych up my phone and I keep getting this error  " an error has occured during an attempt to update a device database record"  This has been a problem and when I had the contacts set to two way between device and computer I was getting many duplicates. the one contact copied itsself three times and would lock up the screen on the device contacts icon.  Ive redownloaded everything, cleaned up the contacts on my computer and blackberry with the exception of the one that locks it up. then I copied everything to the computer deleted the one that was locking the blackberry up. Then set the sync to one way from computer to device the problem contact is gone. However, It only made it to the N's then the error and I have no contacts past that point.  fyi the backup assistant to verizion stopped working also at the same time, It seems that it all started when i recieved the desktop update.

Re: sychronization error

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Here is a KB that discusses that error:

  • KB32420 BlackBerry Desktop Software displays "An error has occurred during an attempt to update a device database record." during contact synchronization
  • KB31752"Synchronization Error. An error has occurred during an attempt to update a device database record" appears during a wired address book synchronization with BlackBerry Desktop Software

Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.

Good luck and let us know!
