Please assist. I have a BB 8520. I am running version 5.0.0.57. I am having a major issue. My bbm contact display pictures are not changing, nor are my contacts. I deleted my wife to re invite her, when request was accepted,  I ended up with a blue man.   I have reinstalled bbm and I have rebooted. I added myself to my contacts and I appear as a blue man when I actually have up a picture. I have been checking my concerns over the net and quite a few people are having the same issue. Can any one please assist.

How many BlackBerry Messenger contacts are currently on your BlackBerry?  If over 100, I would suggest lower to less than 90 and see if the avatars update.

I have the same problem too and I have 203 so I have to delete my friends to 90?

Yes, I have kind of the same problem. My DP changes locally, but none of my contacts can see it (just the blank "man" icon). I also can't see any new contact's DPs until they update.
One other possibly related problem is that I can't designate BBM to the left convenience key!

I've tried:
Batt pull
Reinstalling BBM
Re-registering my device

If anyone has a solution, it would be much appreciated.

Update: my dp and other contact's dps updated, but I still can't assign my BBM to the left convenience key. Please give me a clue!
I forgot to add in my original post that its a Curve 9300.

Hi There, I had the same problem on my 8520.

What I did was go to Options-> Device->Advanced System Settings-> Host Routing Table. Then press the berries and select Register Now. After my phone re-registered on with the BB Network, within a few minutes I noticed my BBM contacts start to update. One way you can see if your BBM is updating is by adding yourself. If your picture loads up in your contact list then your BBM is updating.
