Hi,
I just bought a 2nd hand Blackberry Bold (2months old), and I was trying to create a BIS account.
A message pops up saying that the account has been suspended or deactivated. However, when I call my teleco (Singtel in Singapore), they say they are unable to detect the phone on their blackberry server.
Please advise.
Thank you,
Kyle

You could have bought a reported lost or stolen device.
My advice, return the device to your seller and get your money back as a non-working device. Because it is not.

You need to contact the seller of the Blackberry and have them contact their original carrier and delete the Blackberry Web Client account attached to the device PIN.

Not if the PIN has been suspended or deactivated, that normally means the device is in the lost of stolen database.

I am sorry. Actually the pop up message just said that account has been deactivated or suspended. It did not say that the PIN is deactivated. Does that mean that perhaps someone is using the account?

I see you said that in the initial post, I wasn't sure you mean account or PIN. Thanks for the clairication.
Well--still could be a problem in that if the previous user left their account in arrears or unpaid, that is likely the reason it is deactivated or suspended.
I don't understand this though -- IF you are creating a NEW BIS account, how is it that it is already deactivated or suspended. Carriers might do that unpaid or accounts in arrears.
But I thought you are just now creating this account?

Hi. I just bought a 2nd hand Bold 9000 too.
Apparently the set was from Starhub. I went down to the customer care centre and got the lady to deactivate the previous BIS account for me.
I met the exact same problem as you. When i try to sign up for an account under Singtel, it says BIS account has been suspended or deactivated. Which makes sense, because the lady at Starhub did deactivated it for me.
I went down to Singtel to sign up for my BIS and I told the person my problem. He said it should be ok and asked me to wait for 3 days when the BIS has been activated.
My friend told me hers was activated only a few hours after signing up. But mine up till now still no sign. And the same message pop up each time i try to sign up for an account.
I am getting worried.
