I recently bought an 8gb card for my Verizon BB Pearl 8130.  I am limited to around 900 songs in the Media application, even though there are 950 songs on my card.  Several recently added artists just don't show up.  I know this isn't an inherent limitation of the Pearl because the Flipside media player can play these artists.  Can anyone from RIM comment on this and when it might be fixed?  I'm running the 4.3.0.97 OS.

Did you try a battery pull first to see if the songs show up as available for the BlackBerry Media Player?

Yes, I pulled the battery.  I've heard about this limitation on other message boards as well, so its not just me.

check file format, if is wma or any file other than wav, mp3, aac it won't work unless converted

Huh?  WMA works fine thank you on the Pearl 8130.

This post is about a limit in the Media application on the number of music files that it will recognize.  This limit is about 905 music files.

I opened a case with RIM as suggested by Serano, its case #4959865 if anyone else would like to speak to RIM about this and refer to my case #.

I'm not the only one with the song limit problem - here's a thread on blackberryforums.com about the same issue:

From one of the posts in that thread, I learned that if I click on the Media player, then hit the menu button (left of the trackball) and Explore, all songs are displayed and playable, confirming that the songs are loaded correctly on the device. However, this method of playing has several drawbacks and is a "last resort" workaround.

Bump this thread.. has there been any answer of solution from blackberry.  I specifically got this phone based on 8Gb support, and this is an issue for me.  It is definately the media player as flipside does not have this problem.  I however shouldn't have to buy a third party solution which performs sub par.  Like other users I am only seeing under 1000 files when I have around 1500 on the card.

Anyone from RIM??

I bought a SD micro 8 gb also, I put about 1700 songs in it, but the BB Media can't read all songs. There is a way to correct this issue?

I have a support call open, referenced above.  I have not gotten a satisfactory response yet, but will keep trying.  It would help if others opened support calls too.
