Error 102

[ Edited ]

Hi,

Switched on my phone as normal, and have white screen with Error 102. I have reviewed the posts regarding this and followed instructions using the Jl_Cmder route to no avail.

The device (Bold 9900) is not recognized by the Blackberry Device software on my PC. I did a recent back up on 1st Dec though so I'm hoping that is going to help.

I've followed the instructions when Jl_Cmder does not work

http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_to_do_next_if_Jl_Cmder_will_not_connect_and_wipe

but I get to the point where i enter loader.exe /nojvm and the message says'loader.exe is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

I don't know what else to do!! I'm new to the Blackberry world and seem to have run across problem after problem but now I really really need some help please!

Re: Error 102

Hi and thanks for your message,

My device is not recognised by the BB Desktop software, but when I do connect it the Device pull down does not give me the 'update' option.

Device is still showing Error 102 message also?

Re: Error 102

Hello,

If you do not have the Update option the device may not be connected or you are using an older version of BlackBerry Desktop Software. There are a few reasons why the Desktop Software cannot detect the BlackBerry Device please reference:

and my fav

Re: Error 102

It does not detect it because it has an 'error 102' message, the USB works fine.  I've followed all advice on these forums to no avail - can you help me?

I need to have this phone working by Monday morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Error 102

I would then remove the battery connect the device with no battery and select "Update" on the error message that is displayed. This will remove all the data from the device and update the BlackBerry software. Replace the Battery in the device when you see "Waiting for device initialization" during the update process. Hope that helps. This will remove all data and applications from the device, basically it will bring the device back to factory settings.

Re: Error 102

I wouldn't fully restore from a Backup that was created with an error message on the device. I would do a selective restore and just check important database items for example "Contacts All", "Calendar All", "Tasks", "Password Keeper" and "Memos". If you sync Contacts or Calendar using Desktop Software I would sync and not restore the information if possible.
