I have seen a couple of postings on this but no solution that works for me.
About 10 days ago (March 21) the gmail mailbox on my Tour 9630, enterprise-activated, BES, stopped showing any messages. I suspect the problem is related to gmail labels but in a LOT of debugging attempts (removing labels (on mail.google.com (not on bb), removing the mailbox/account and re-adding it on bb, etc.) I cannot get mail to show up.
I suspect bugs between gmail labels and blackberry "filter" mechanisms, particularly because there are a large number of strange "\Important" filter entries on BB that I suspect are related to gmail's new "priority inbox" that I activated about the same time I stopped seeing email on my bb..
But:
- cannot seem to delete any of the gmail labels on the bb.
- "update label list" appears to do nothing.
- list of gmail labels in bb gmail mailbox sticks around even after I delete the account and mailbox and re-add it.
- list of gmail labels in bb gmail mailbox seems to be way out-of-synch with labels on mail.google.com.
Does anyone have any suggestions on solving this?

I have a lot of labels in gmail and I suspect that bb cannot handle that many.
Yes I had rearranged them.
But until we get an answer or workaround from either RIM or Google...I think I'm stuck.
I've deleted the account and re-added - no luck.
I'm not willing to "wipe" the blackberry to restart.
I'm running 5.0.0.975 on a Tour 9630.

I needed to do some label cleaning anyway, so went ahead and did that, now I don't have too many. No luck - still the same issue.
I suspect that it may actually be an issue on the BIS server itself caching the gmail account settings (in particular the default filter to use), in combination with the Blackberry Enhanced GMail Client - i.e. things we have very little control over.
I've worked around it by removing the account and then adding another accoutn with an IMAP server that I specify ("gmail-imap.l.google.com") and then a username and password as usual. Will have to live with no labels or message grouping until RIM/Google do a fix for this issue.

I have the exact same problem. It developed yesterday when I tried to delete all the messages in my Gmail mailbox on my Blackberry Curve. I do this every now and then with no problem but this time the process hung up and I had to pull the battery. Now I have the problem you described.
I'll let you know if I find a solution.

I got exactly the same issue just recently, deleting and adding gmail accoung is not working, my other gmail account is working well, using Onyx 9780 (office property).
Then, I add the email in another handset (Dakota 9900) and it works well.
So, I think this is something to do with the handset itself, but I cannot figure out though ..... anyone can help?

I got hit with exactly the same thing this morning. No changes to any settings on my part. Bold running v5.0.0.1067. I can use the search function (just put my email address in the search field) to make them visible, but that goes away as soon as you exit the mailbox...

Did anyone find a fix for this? The only useful post I've seen was one where someone suggested deleting the account for at least 24 hours to have it purged from the server. I'm trying this now.
