What's with the ear piercing "chirp" I get from my Curve after updating the OS to 4.5.0.175? I can't hardly stand it!
I emailed VZW but haven't heard back yet. Anyone else have this issue and what's the fix?

Well, its most likely some notification of something, some event or message or a third party applicaiton.
Does the chirp come from the speaker or the earpiece?
If you place the device on Profile: Silent, does it still occur?
Are you using a Bluetooth earpiece?

It's not a notification of any type and it happens several times during a phone call. Only I can hear it (in the earpiece) and it's a very sharp, electronic "chirp," similar to radio frequency interference.
It happens when using the phone conventionally or through Bluetooth and it started the minute I updated to 4.5.0.175.

Ok, sounds like a notification of some sort, like maybe a text message being received while you're on the call.

It's definitely not a intended notification. Its a high-pitched "chirp" that occurs sporadically. It's an annoying sound that is quite irregular.

ok, and again, If you place the profile on silent, does it still occur?

Yes, profile position has no affect.

OK, doing a little research on this "chirp", you are not alone.
I am asking some friends what they think, may be a few days, let's see.
Post back here or Private Message me if you don't hear back from me.

I have the exact same problem and just discovered it today I updated my verizon os to that exact same version. Today was the first day I have used it for a long call and it started doing this ear piercing "CHIRP" about 5 minutes into the call. I could get it to do the noise during a regular call and on speaker phone, I called the person back on their cell to confirm it wasnt their landline and sure enough it did it again. I think I got her to make it happen a couple times by using a high pitch voice or a sudden loud voice almost like the speaker was maxing out and then it would warn you by a loud **bleep** seperate chirp.
I'm wondering if I should just downgrade or if this is just some dumb error that will be addressed or already has been.
NOTE TO ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO DIDNT READ WHAT HE WROTE AT ALL. IT IS NOT A NOTIFICATION FROM A TEXT MESSAGE WE ARE NOT INCOMPETENT. Thanks.
EDIT: Changed Wording

Hey Mr. ALL CAPS,
Troubleshooting the obvious "alerts and notifications" on the device is wise, to rule out completely the simplest explanation.
No one said anyone is incompetent. If you think of yourself in that manner, I'd say you need to deal with that yourself
