Re: How To Reload Your Operating System

Dear Krypto! I have had some problems with my OS. I can't set the time, it's freezes every day, it's like a slow motion, I can't connect to wifi and i can't use 3G ect. I tried everything, but nothing works. So I decided to Reload the OS. Firstly I tried to update the software but it said it didn't need update. After this I wanted to reinstall the whole system so I did what you recomended in your first post.

The version of my OS is v5.0.0.669. I downloaded and installed the 5.0.0.475 because it was the newest on the site.

I launched the application loader but there wasn't the Blackberry system only some silly apps. I guess it's because the OS that I'd like to install is oldel but there's no fresher OS and i have to reinstall the system. What should I do?

Please help me!

There should be the OS on the list, right?

Re: How To Reload Your Operating System

Hi Ruthless, sorry for the delay responding. If you haven't managed to resolve this issue yet, do the following:

Download and install a program to your computer called BBSAK. You can get it from http://bbsak.org. Once you have that installed on your computer, plug your BlackBerry in and open the program. Enter your BlackBerry password when prompted, or if you don't have a password, just click OK. You will now enter the program and should see your BlackBerry PIN on the main page of the program. Click on the Wipe Device button, which will wipe all of the data from your BlackBerry, then click on Load OS, or simply proceed with the instructions on the first page of this thread (you can skip step 4 now, as you have done that manually).

Just make sure that you back up your BlackBerry in advance as this process will wipe all of the data off your BlackBerry.

Also, if BBSAK is unable to connect to your BlackBerry, no worries, just press Ctrl+Alt+Del on your computer, go to the Processes tab and shut down the process named bbdevmgr. This will give access. I'm not sure why this is an issue, but I have to do this step every time I use BBSAK.

Good luck and please feel free to post back and let me know if you have any questions/problems.

Re: How To Reload Your Operating System

You can. To do this, delete the file named Vendor.xml located in the same folder as the Loader.exe file, then you can load the OS to your device.

I hope that helps!

Re: How To Reload Your Operating System

Hi!

Thank you for your answer. Finally I solved the problem even if I spent 10 hours in front of my laptop

Like I said at the first time I tried to reload my os with Application Loader. I visited many sites about reloading an OS. I tried every method. I used BBSAK, BlackBerry Master Control Program, BB DM 4.6 and the freshest one too. I wiped the device but I couldn't do the reload. In BBSAK when I clicked on Load Os It said I have no OS installed on my computer (BUT I HAD!). After so many tries I turned off my notebook and I went to my sister's notebook. It has Windows 7 64x, on my notebook the OS is Windows 7 x86. I had the same problem on her notebook. I spent another 3 hour trying. Fortunately I have another PC at home so I went to this computer.

I COULD DO THE ROLOAD ON THIS PC LESS THAN 30 MINUTES. And it makes me mad because I used the same programes on this PC, used the same USB cable, same phone and same Windows 7 x86 which was installed from the same DVD.

I launched application loader and there was the OS on the list. I clicked on the next button and the problem was solved. I still don't understand but believe me I did everything correctly on the two notebook like on the PC.

But the really important thing is the happy ending and I'm happy with my brand new OS5. :smileyhappy:

Re: How To Reload Your Operating System

Hi Insearch09, try doing the following once you've opened the Loader.exe file in Step 2:

If you have problems getting your phone to connect to your computer, remove the battery and unplug the phone.  When you're on the second screen of the loader.exe file (where your device PIN should show), plug the phone back in, and as soon as your PIN pops up in the drop down box, click Next.  If PIN:UNKNOWN shows up, click Next as well.  And don't worry if you miss it, just unplug the phone and plug it back in again to retry.

Once your computer has connected to the phone, put the battery back in and proceed with the OS reinstall/upgrade.

That should do it, but if you have any problems, please let us know where you're having those problems.

Re: How To Reload Your Operating System

Don't use the Desktop Software. Follow the instructions on the first post of this thread, with the addition of what I posted above.

Re: How To Reload Your Operating System

The latest release of BBSAK is not compatible with OS 7 or OS 7.1. I emailed the developers and they provided an updated version of software but it's not on their website. My impression is that they are no longer BB users so I would not expect BBSAK to be well supported in the future. I would recommend anyone to use BBH-Plus instead, as it's a supported application and it can also be used to shrink the os before installation. I used it to upgrade from 7.1.0.267 to .284 and then from .284 to .340 and it worked well in both cases. YMMV.
