Hi. I just bought a Curve 9300 from Globe Philippines, bundled with their postpaid mobile phone subscription.
The unit has OS 5, and I want to upgrade to OS 6. I tried to do it at home, but I was told that I have to be a BB subscriber.
I went to the Globe Philippines offices for help and they tried to upgrade my phone OS, but with the same result--a message that I have to be a BB subscriber.
What does that mean? How can I upgrade my OS? Thanks.

You say you have Globe's postpaid mobile phone subscription. What you need in order to access BlackBerry features (and be able to upgrade your phone) is BIS, or BlackBerry Internet Service. This is also known as a BlackBerry data plan. I suspect what you have currently is just phone and text capabilities (though I could be wrong). Without BIS, you won't be doing anything with your phone except calling and texting.
While I have you here, I would suggest NOT loading OS 6 to your Curve 9300. The 9300 has only 256 MB of onboard memory and is not well suited to running OS 6. All phones that ship with OS 6 have 512 MB of memory. Sure, it will work on your phone, but you're going to run into lagging and freezing up. Look through these forums to see what I'm talking about before deciding to get BIS and update your phone with OS 6.
I hope that helps you. ![]()
