Internet Related Activities using 3G stopped working/ email settings icon not there, etc.

Hi, I have a bold 9000. Since two weeks ago, internet related activities have stopped working, I'm with three provider in the uk.

This meant that I couldn't use the facebook app, bb messages, browser etc. I thought to remedy this I would do a wipe of the handheld, and it appeared that the webbrowser could access the internet now but all the other apps inluding blackberry app downloader app said that I needed a dateplan/be connected to blackberry internet. I've contacted three and I've spoken to 3 different people who tried to help, they're having issues and the last person who was a blackberry expert recommend that I follow this:

http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB19846&slic...

KB19846, which I followed however when I followed the next step:

http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB15402

KB15402 requires that I go in the e-mail settings section, however... this app is not to be found ANYWHERE. The only place that gives e-mail setup is in the wizard and that only offers me one option of "blackberry enterprise email" no other!

I then thought, why not restore from october, so I did that but in the email messages list I went into option and e-mail options but the app was blank nothing was showing!

So then I thought... well I'll update the blackberry to the latest OS using blackberry desktop manager and that has failed (and always has)

I'm very frustrated :smileysad:

Hi there!

I suggest the following steps (yes, I know you've already done step 2):

1) Register HRT

  • Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now

2) Resend Service Books

  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

The fact that you are only being presented with Enterprise email tells me that either all of these settings have been lost or your carrier is not providing you access to their BIS infrastructure. When the email setup does not present Personal email, that's usually the case. If the above steps don't get the email setup to present you with Personal email, then I'm afraid your course of action is back to the carrier -- they are responsible for delivering to you the services for which you pay, and if you have a plan from them that covers BIS, then they are not delivering it to you.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Internet Related Activities using 3G stopped working/ email settings icon not there, etc.

Thanks,

The issue seems to be Resending Service Books, I wish I was able to do that however because the "e-mail setting" app is not there anymore my only solution is to use the  BlackBerry Internet Service  but I can't access that.  I use to be able to access email so I guess I already have an account? when I try to register asks for Device ESN/MEID, however in the status option no ESN/MEID (except if IMEI  is it, but I tried that and it didn't allow me to register) details show up and under the battery same... weird. (I am in europe though UK)

 Thanks for your help :smileyhappy:

Ok thanks, I just accessed 3uk.blackberry.com from my mobile and followed your instructions and managed to get the service books sent to me. However still fail :smileysad: I still only get that option in email for blackberry emails blabla :smileysad:

In which case I refer you back to my earlier post...if you are seeing only Enterprise email setup, then your BIS account is not correct with your provider. If you are paying them for access to their BIS infrastructure, then I suggest taking it up with them...they are not delivering to you what you are paying them for.
