Just got a blackberry curve 8330 Sprint from a friend who upgraded to a newer phone.

Problem: there's no browser icon. 

I've been on the phone with both Sprint tech support and Blackberry Tech support. Going the the same process over and over: mobile network, provisioning, host routing table, registration, they send the service books, everything is set up on their end, still no icon.  not seeing arrows in top right corner.  lower case 1xev. 

we wiped the deviced.  started over.  nothing. first they said it could be the device, then they said there's a delay across the mobile network, then back to it being the device.  i would have to pay $110 for Sprint to look at it in person. 

previous owner said he didn't use internet on the phone when he had it, didn't have the data service plan.

i have the data service plan and had it on my old phone.

anything to be done?

You do have THE BlackBerry Data Plan from Sprint...

And you are CERTAIN they have that on your account (they do make mistakes).

And, there has been a RIM data outage today across some of the US eastern areas, that could be your problem.

Just called Sprint back, they confirmed i have the data plan.  And that there was a service outage.  So i think i'll wait it out for another day.  If they have to replace my phone, will cost me $110.

If it is a problem with the device, any idea what could be the issue?

i went to restore my blackberry curve 8330 and lost my internet browser and there is no default browser configurations. please help......i go through page plus and it was workin before i tryed to restore it .......thanks........
