actually its because BBM5 is reliant on both parties internet connection. I thought I was having the same problem but after some trial and error sending files to myself from blackberry to blackberry I realized that when my tmobile 8900 service bar was at no bars or 1 bar that the transfer stalled or stopped completely. The transfer can also be interrupted if the person makes or recieves a call while trying to send the file.
I'm guessing that BBM5 uses each blackberry as a server because I had the same problem with BB Groups lagging. No confirmation though.. just a theory

I came here and signed up just to complain about sending/receiving pictures on this 'new' BBM 5.0. It feels like I've been taken 10 years back in time. I've gone from sending a picture and the other person receiving in almost an instant, to waiting 5-10 minutes for the picture to download to even view it.
And the preview is so small it's not even helpful.
This is a joke right? Why would someone add this 'feature'?

Thanx Zip for the post on the solution. I figured that one out too but didnt have time to post it. Now its to be able to view the pictures when you download it before you save them. OHH BBM 5.0 why must their be problems.
Xraytid I still found with complete internet connection on two bbm's with bbm 5.0.33 their was a problem in sending the pictures unless you did what Zip mentioned previously.
Thank you for all the feedback . I thought I was the only one going crazy over the fact that I couldn't get pictures..and now the problem is they take 2948390233 years to download (Yes im exaggerating) .
Hopefully RIM does take a look at the forums to review problems that are occuring with usability of their software.
Thanx again Dumplin11

Its just like msn. i dont see how its taking you back anywhere. its nice to get full sized pics as opposed to the compressed crap from before
Well the problem is that it takes 5-10 minutes to transfer a 300-400Kb file.
Even if you aren't in a EVDO, EDGE, or whatver area you should still get transfer speeds of 5-10Kbps. Which would be around 40-90 seconds to download.
90% of the time there is no data active at all, like the program is just sitting there. Then you'll get a little burst of activity and maybe another 20kb of the picture.

@Zip,
How do I change the downloads directory? I'm wanting to save pictures, but am unable to do so.
Thanks,
Ryan

There is no way to change the default directory that I'm aware of. When you hit the accept button to download a picture, however, you are prompted for the location and file name to be saved. I just browse to device memory in this pop-up, and then hit save. Hope this helps.

Hey Lostinthewindand anyone else that is trying to change the directory that their pictures or videos or any media files that they download.
You have to open up the camera or video camera etc like you are going to take a picture.
then you press the menu button ( button with the blackberry sign on it). Then you go to options.
In the bottom of options there is a folder where you can change where your pictures or videos or whatever you want to store on your phone can go .
You can do this for all media as I explained but you have to open the actual application individually not by going to the media folder. Ie voice notes recorder, or music player. Hope the helps
