Question about Blackberry messenger:

Have had my Torch for almost 2 years now and this is the first time this has happened and I'm confused.

A while back opened icon for Setup and Selected the instant messenging icon  and the BBMessenger and set it up.

NEVER gave my pin # to anyone, EVER. Today I have had aleast 30 request to be added to someone else's contact list.

The only information is a "screen" name and their PIN#. Don't know who they are. Declined every one of them.

Is there a way to UN set up this IM?

How did they get my PIN# ?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Question about Blackberry messenger:

It could be as simple as someone spamming PINs to get new contacts.  Yeah, some people really don't have better things to do with their time.

You were right to not accept the requests.  If they stop, or if you receive very few others, I would just let it slide and not worry about it.  However, if they continue at an unacceptable rate, post back and we'll have another look at the situation.

I hope that helps you.  :smileyhappy:

My Z10 was furnished by BlackBerry but all opinions are my own.

Re: Question about Blackberry messenger:

Thank you for the response. I beleive you are right about the spamming.

I have received approx. one per day since then, and instead of decline I choose ignore.

I had checked my security settings and I did have the firewall set to block PIN messages except for contacts. But I guess they found a way through. I have changed the setting for no exceptions and also block pin, personal email and enterprise email, but I still had one more request since then.

The one question someone asked me: was their PIN number the same? and I had not noticed if it was, the username was alway different I think.
