RIM network messages will not stop

I keep getting the following message about every half hour.  How can I make them stop? They are driving me crazy.

From:  network@etp1107.etp.na.bla...

RIM_bca28a80-e9c0-11d1-87fe-00600811c6a2

1 Attachment

"This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry handheld and an associated server.  Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server."

The only thing is...it is never processed.  I just keep getting them.

Re: RIM network messages will not stop

One of the most asked (and answered) questions on this forum!

Reason : You have installed Desktop Manager using the 'Desktop Redirector' option.

Step 1: If you're not using Redirector, you should uninstall Desktop Manager and then reinstall it using the BlackBerry Internet Service option.

Step 2: On your device, go to: Options > Advanced > Service Book, and delete all service books for [Desktop]

Re: RIM network messages will not stop

Hello,

I did exactly what is needed in step 1, but i am not understanding step 2.  What do you mean reinstall it using the blackberry internet service option?  Is there a link to this you can send me?  I couldn't find it.

Please help!

Thanks!

Re: RIM network messages will not stop

Please read those directions again, there is no reinstall mentioned in Step 2.

The reinstall of Desktop Manager is in Step 1, which you said you did exactly. So I am confused as to where you are stuck.

if you need Desktop Manager again...

Download Desktop Manager from here:

Re: RIM network messages will not stop

I meant step one.  :-)  The problem is that I want to select the other one because it is a work e-mail account I am doing.  Is there a way to do this and not get those pesky RIM messages?

Re: RIM network messages will not stop

I did everything that JSanders told me to do and it worked.  Here is some additional information I found out when one of our IT folks came by to install something else on my computer at work.  He told me that if you are using the Blackberry Internet Service, there is no need to integrate the software with your work email account.  When you set up your BB, you more than likely entered an affiliated email address and chose a password (either using your phone or by setting up a user account online).  He explained to me that the way the BB is working is that the internet service actually goes out and "searches" for email attached to the affiliated email address and "brings" it back to your phone.  So, that is why there is no need for the redirector option choosing the step where you integrate an account.  The only thing the desktop software is actually used for (at least in my case) is to perform a sync from my organizer data (i.e. Outlook) to my phone.  That may be the same case with you.  So, go back and do the steps JSanders told you to do and choose not to integrate the email account (if you already have a BB username and password associated with the email address for which you receive email on your BB).  Hope this helps.

Re: RIM network messages will not stop

I just suddenly started having this problem yesterday without having done anything!  I've had my Curve for over a year and had the Desktop manager installed for that long and have made no changes to it - haven't even synched recently.  But beginning yesterday I am getting these messages, about 10 per hour!  Very annoying and filling up my inbox bigtime!!!

Re: RIM network messages will not stop

Did you try the solution suggested by JSanders who replied to my on 3-28-09 at 10:07 AM? That worked for me. However, it just happened to someone in my office and we were able to make it stop just by doing Step 2 of the above-referenced instructions.

Re: RIM network messages will not stop

Hey guys, I used to own a Blackberry for a short while - but my spouse sold it (long story)

I thus have no idea who has it or where it is - BUT - I still receive the blasted RIM messages everyday - and I receive at 20 - 30 per day. It's driving me nuts.

How do I stop this - I don't have access to the BlackBerry & I think I've deleted all the BB programs from my laptop.

Please, please help
