I have spent hours on this BB 8700g. It has an IT policy. I followed the procedure to replace policy.bin, but it did not work.
Then I found your instructions to reset to the factory settings. I worked through the procedure and watch as all the software was reloaded on to my BB. I thought for sure this would do it. But no luck! When I looked at the security options, I found the IT policy was still in place.
I'm not sure what to do next and would appreciate any help>
BTW, I'm running BB desktip manger 6.1xxx and the BB firmware is 8700 5.0.124

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I suspect that, after the resettofactory, you performed a full restore from a prior backup...in doing so, the IT Policy was dutifully restored. So, what you need to do is the resettofactory again, but this time, when you do the restore, do a custom restore of only those databases you really require (e.g., messages, contacts, etc.) and do not restore any database that has to do with the IT Policy:
Good luck!

I had the same problem and found this after a search.
Very good of you to go to so much trouble posting this, which worked fine for me too.
I know it's an old post but still relevant and I thought a thank-you was in order.
