If you can't get past that part, go ahead and unplug your phone when it gets to there. The Desktop Software might tell you not to unplug your phone but you can go ahead and do so; we can always get back your information. Once you've done that, use BlackBerry Desktop Software to do a data backup. Once that's completed, restart the process of upgrading your phone's software.

Latest software screwed my device. I have some doubts about the siftware quality that was distributed. When attempting to revert to earlier version - same errors remained: email set up froze and set up was in constant use. Returned to service provider for a fix.
